Campers ages 6 to 10 years oldMini-Camp for Younger Campers

Mini Camp is a one week long camp that for younger and first time campers to experience the magic of Plantation Farm Camp, without the commitment of our regular full three and half week session. Sleep out under the stars, share stories around a campfire, hike through the redwoods, run through the woods playing Capture the Flag. Mini Camp combines the best of a summer at Plantation with a developmentally appropriate and supportive environment.

Activities

Mini Campers will have the chance to try a variety of Plantation’s activities. Each day there will be time spent with your unit to experience a different camp activity as well as free-choice time so that each camper can design their own perfect camp experience. Our goal during this week is to help kids expand their horizons and stretch their comfort zone while also giving them gentle support. By giving a balance of free-choice and set activities campers will have the opportunity to develop their decision-making skills while also getting involved in all that we have to offer.

Campers will participate in archery, swimming, boating on our lake, hiking, horseback riding, sports, arts & crafts, and much more. Due to the short length of the session, campers will not have a chance to experience the whole range of Plantation’s  activities. This session is an introduction to camp and will still give a great sampling of what camp is like.

Unit LifeBoys at summer camp

Each camper will have a Unit as their “home base”. Each unit is divided by age so that the counselors can focus on the developmental needs of the age group. Over the course of the week campers will develop a strong bond with their unit mates and counselors as they share activities and relate experiences from their free-choice periods. Counselors

Our counselors are a wonderful group of young people who we carefully select to provide the best care and fun for our campers. We have a high, (3 to 1), camper to counselor ratio which ensures that every camper gets the nurturing care and attention that they need. Our campers have always really enjoyed the strong bonds that form with our caring staff, and we know that Mini-Campers will do the same.

Chores

Have you ever milked a cow? Or fed a horse? Or picked your own vegetables from the garden? Mini-Campers will rotate through our farm chores, enabling them to try a full range of our chore experiences. Having everyone on the farm be a valuable member of our community is central to the Plantation experience and Mini-Camp is no different.

Food

As with our regular camp, the food provided will be healthy, balanced and farm-fresh. Much of the food we eat is raised on the farm, and all the meals are made on site by our wonderful chef and kitchen team, including delicious fresh breads. We pride ourselves on serving wholesome, tasty, farm-fresh meals! Children at our camp go home having tried and truly enjoyed a wide range of incredible food. Campers will also have the experience of cooking a meal themselves over their unit campfire, which is always a favorite!

Mini-Camp is the perfect answer for those who are not quite ready or sure about the longer camp session. They will get to know how wonderful camp can be, and will leave wanting more!
