What a summer at Plantation is all about

Top 20 Camp in the US

Plantation Farm Camp is where kids grow.  Our program is designed so that each camper gets a complete camp experience. The 3 and 1/2 weeks sessions, for campers 8-17, mean that everyone arrives and departs together, there is plenty of time to participate in activities that are “old favorites” and also branch out to try something brand new, and there is enough time to really make friendships that last a lifetime. Flexibility and free choice are key components of our program. The slate of activities is designed each evening for the following day, allowing us to tailor the program to what the campers want to do.  None of our activities require a camper to “pre-register” before they even arrive at camp. Three times each day campers choose what they want to do for the next activity period.

If you have a first-time camp ages 6-10 years old check out our one-week Mini-Camp.

Special Events

Throughout the session, there are also many unique all-camp activities. These events range from our Saturday night Barn Dances to International Day, where we share a progressive dinner as each unit transforms into another country and prepares a native dish. Another highlight of each session is Sheep Shearing, where the campers help corral the sheep and bring them into the barn to be shorn. Each session we also perform up to five camper-written dramas and the session culminates with the Variety Show.

Activities

We have literally dozens of activities that campers can do at camp within our program areas.  For campers who like active, run-around games, we have many large fields for games such as soccer and ultimate frisbee, as well as many trails for hiking.  Bareback horseback riding is a big part of our program, and we have rides for all levels of riders.  We offer many arts and crafts activities, from tie-dye and silkscreening to pottery to watercoloring and more.  We have a swimming pool and our own lake, enabling us to provide a variety of waterfront activities, including a three-day, two night kayaking trip.  Drama is another huge part of our program, as campers write, direct, and perform five dramas and a variety show each session.  We also have archery, fort building, slingshot alley, and much, much more!  For more information about our activities, click here.

Close-Knit Community

Building a place where kids are safe to grow, challenge themselves, and make true friends is central to what Plantation is all about.  Our entire camp experience is set up to creat an inter-connected web at camp.  Campers have the security of their unit, and meet new campers and counselors at chore time, activities, and during breakfast and dinner when campers have assigned tables.  By the end of the first week you are able to know everyone's name.

Our incredible counseling staff come from all over the world.  Some are returning campers, some have never been to Plantation.  All are passionate about making a summer at Plantation special for every camper.  Just take a few minutes to read the introductions that this year's staff members have written and you will see what a wonderful group they are.
