Day in the Life

From the warmth of your tent you hear the wake-up bell that signals the start of a new day.  It starts with heading to chores to feed the animals and take care of the farm and then we all meet for a hearty breakfast, Morning Singing, and then it's time to pick your morning activity.  If you can't decide, your counselor can help you choose from 8-12 activities.  Don't worry if you want to do more than one, you will have another chance soon.  Having the opportunity to try new things and enjoy the things you love is what camp is all about at Plantation.

After lunch and a rest hour, you will meet for another activity period.  Maybe this afternnoon it's a game of capture the flag, time for archery, or you feel like kayaking or swimming. There is something for everyone regardless of whether you are feeling energetic or want some down time.  After activities, we meet on the front lawn for Tea Time where we have a snack and catch up on the day before going to afternoon chores, followed by shower time, Dinner, and evening activities. you will then return to your unit for a campfire and bedtime.

Special Days

Throughout the session the camp shares unique activities that add to the camp experience.International Day

International Day -- No, you don't need to bring your passport to camp.  We will give you one for your tour around camp to the country that each unit has become.  You and your unit will select a country to represent and cook the food before you act as hosts to the rest of the camp.

Sheep Shearing

Sheep Shearing -- Try your hand at convincing a 200 pound sheep to wait in line to have it's wool shaved off.  It's easier than it sounds and a lot of fun to help catch a sheep with your friends and watch as the Sheep Shearer finishes the job.

Beach Bake Mermaid

Beach Bake -- We take advantage of being so close to the ocean and all hike down to the beach for a BBQ, games, sand castles, and exploring.  This has been a tradition at Plantation for generations.

Farm Days -- Every week we turn our attention to the farm and the animals.  It might be building a fence or a play structure for the goat kids, extra grooming for the horses, or baking bread.

Variety Show -- After five camper written and produced Dramas, the last night is a chance for everyone to share their talents.  Are you a comedian, do you play an instrument, love to sing, choreograph a dance?  Whatever your talent, the Variety Show is the time show it.

Units

Alpine Unit

While you choose your own activities during the day, your unit is a home base to come home to each day.  Your unit is where you sleep, where you share your experiences at the end of the day, where you shower, and where you make your closest friends.

Campers are separated by gender and age into eight living units, four girls units and four boys units.  Each unit is made up of camper tents and counselor tents, arranged in a semi-cirlce around a campfire.  Two campers share each eight foot by eight foot platform tent.  We provide camp mattresses, and you bring a sleeping bag and pillow.

Three counselors live in each unit, and each of them is there to help you have the summer of your life.  (Learn more about the awesome people who will be your counselors, click here)
