GETTING READY FOR CAMP

Hi -

As your camp nurses, we want all campers and staff to stay healthy and have a great time while at Plantation, so here are some things to think about before coming to camp:  Make sure your immunizations, especially your tetanus immunization, are up-to-date.  Don’t forget to bring adequate clothing for those chilly foggy mornings/evenings and hats to block out those sunny afternoon UV rays.  The right footwear for life around the farm is also very important, so don’t forget those hard-topped shoes!  We want you to be excited and ready for camp the moment you get off the bus, so please see your health care provider if you have any health concerns before coming to camp, for example, an unknown rash or unexplained elevated temperature.  If you are on daily physician prescribed medication, there should be no changes in dosage before and during your camp experience.

Plantation is a fairly self sufficient community, so if campers and staff can come to camp healthy, and parents don't import an infection on Visitor Day, we can often manage to stay pretty healthy all session.  If you are coming down with a major illness just as the buses are scheduled to bring you up to camp, please be considerate of others and stay an extra day at home.  You will probably recuperate quicker, and we may be able to avoid a unit full of sick campers.
We know you are just so excited to be at Plantation, but PLEASE try to come to camp well rested and ready for all the fun activities that await you at Plantation.
