Plantation Farm Camp is located approximately 90 miles north of San Francisco in the coastal Sonoma redwoods.  Even though we are so close, you will feel like you are in a whole different world.

Chaperoned bus transportation is available for campers from the Oakland Airport, as well as from another location in the East Bay and in the North Bay.

Driving to Camp

There are two primary routes for driving to camp once you have gotten to Highway 101 from either the north or south.  Option 1 is simpler and takes you through Guerneville along the Russian River, while Option 2 is a little shorter and follows the coast.  Both are beautiful.

Sonoma Coast from Meyers Grade RoadOption 1: From Highway 101 North, take the River Road exit, just north of Santa Rosa. This exit is 45 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Option 2: From Highway 101 in Petaluma, take the Washington St. exit and go left (west). This exit is 30 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Follow Washington St. through Petaluma, towards Bodega Bay. The road changes name and eventually merges with Highway 1 near Valley Ford.

Continue on Highway 1 North through Bodega Bay and on to Jenner, approximately 35 miles.

From Jenner, take Highway 1 North, 5 miles to the Meyers Grade turnoff and turn right just after the sign to "Plantation". Proceed for 13 miles on Meyers Grade Road, which changes into Seaview Rd. Continue on at the stop sign at Timber Cove Road. Turn left at the “Plantation” sign onto the gravel road at the junction of Kruse Ranch, Seaview and Hauser Bridge roads.

Or, use Google maps.

Places to Stay and Things to Do in the Area

Plantation Farm Camp is fairly remote with limited options for accommodations in close proximity.  The Timber Cove Inn (15 minutes from camp) and The Sea Ranch (45 minutes north of camp) are the two closest options.Salt Point Moon Rocks

The town of Bodega Bay is about 1 hour south of camp.  The Bodega Bay Lodge or the Inn at the Tides are both good options there.

Our nearest larger city would be Santa Rosa which is about 1.5 hours from camp.  Everything is available there from hotels to B&B's.

Healdsburg is just north of Santa Rosa and is a quaint, small town with lots of charm and several options for accommodations (about 2 hours from camp).  I would look at the Healdsburg Inn, Madrona Manor, or any number of B&B's. There is great winetasting in the area.

A distinction should be made between the county of Sonoma (westernmost portion of wine country where camp is located) and the cities of Sonoma and Napa which will be close to 2.5 hours from camp.  There are endless options for winetasting and accommodations in the towns of Napa, St. Helena and Calistoga.

If you have an opportunity to make it a long weekend, The Sea Ranch or Healdsburg are scenic with good restaurants and shopping.  If you are up just for Visitor Day, Santa Rosa or Bodega Bay are probably a better choice.
