Family Camp runs just after summer camp ends. Everyone is welcomed to Family Camp, regardless of age or family makeup.

Once you arrive, everything is included – meals, accommodations, swimming in the pool, canoeing on the lake, hiking in the redwoods, horseback riding, tie dying a t-shirt, everything. The program is run like the traditional summer camp and is relaxed and informal. With the help of a small group of skilled staff, campers select and lead the activities they would most like to do.

Whether you are looking for some quiet time to relax and slow down or want to do an all-day hike to the beach, Plantation is a unique vacation for the entire family.  In both the week and the weekend long stays what you will find is good old-fashioned fun.

Summer Camp, with a distinct family flavor. Families of all constellations gather together at the end of the summer to enjoy each other and Plantation Farm Camp. Family Camp is a time for the whole family to gather for fun and relaxation, to experience things together or try activities separately, and to share the magic of camp. With the days full of your choice of activities, gourmet farm-fresh meals, and evenings under the stars the possibilities are endless.

Everyone sleeps in a platform tent (two family members per tent). Two or three families will live in the same unit area.

Family Campers who return year after year tell us how time seems suspended and how much they value the special atmosphere that helps create a loving extended family, nourishes the individual, relaxes tensions, deepens relationships, and invigorates them for the coming year.

Activitiesbasketball

A day at Family Camp can begin early in the morning as people slowly filter up to the patio fire to enjoy coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and camaraderie. The morning wake-up bell rings at 8 a.m.and signals everyone to go to chores.  When the animals are fed and milked and the farm is tended to we gather on the patio for a delicious meal followed by Morning Singing and Morning Announcements where each camper can select their activity. The day is filled with

various activities, meals, and time to rest. We gather again in the late afternoon for Tea Time on the front lawn and then chores and a hearty evening meal.

Childcare is available during activity periods to allow families more flexibility. Please talk to us about your special requests so that we can help your family have the best time at Plantation possible.

Evening Activities change each evening and include campfires, games, walks to the lake, star gazing, and the Barn Dance on Saturday night.

Whether reading your book by the fire, reclining on one of Bruce Johnson's usable sculptures, hiking a gulch, swimming in the pool, kayaking in the lake, or spinning wool there is something for everyone and all different ages.

Food

happy birthday

Meals at Plantation are an important part of the experience. They are a time to sit together and talk about our day, what we have learned, and make new friends. To facilitate that we eat at small tables with breakfast and dinner served family style. Our chefs work very hard to prepare the highest quality food with the freshest, local ingredients -- much of it was grown right here on the farm. Our meat is all humanely treated and pasture-raised. In our garden we use organic methods to grow fruit, herbs, vegetables and flowers for our tables. During family camp they love preparing gourmet, family-friendly meals, baking fresh bread, making cobbler from the blackberries that campers pick, and generally sharing their love of great food. Vegetarian options are always available and we are also able to accommodate many special dietary needs and allergies. To learn more about the meals that are served, click here.

Camp Lifecamper unit and druids

Life at Plantation is rustic.  Each family lives in one of our units in platform tents, with two people sharing a tent. We provide everyone with foam mattresses and suggest that you bring a pillow and sleeping bag to complete your comfortable bed. These small groupings of families have their own fire circle for campfires in the evenings and are easily accessible throughout the day from the activity areas.  The units provide a home base between activities, a quiet place for families to regroup, and a place to meet new people within your unit. Every unit has an outdoor redwood shower and bathroom facilities.

Life seems to move at a different pace while at Plantation. Without cellphones, iPods, homework, or deadlines looming we can relax together and enjoy living by nature's rhythm.
